Masyoro Bakyara Twimukye New Group
In this Group: Deborah, Rovina, Juriet, Mary, Edwig, Elvaida, Grace
The Masyoro Bakyara Twimukye group is located in the new district of Sheema and is made up of women whose major activity is different types of agriculture. Rovina is 40 years old and lives in an area known as Kyangyenyi, a rural part of this district. She did not get very much education so she started commercial farming in order to survive and meet her family's needs. Her farming business grew and helped her to support her family and pay to educate her children. She later obtained a loan of Ugx. 700,000 from Ugafode microfinance, which has helped her to prosper. This also motivated her to mobilize her colleagues to form a women's group. This group is very determined to change each member’s life and has succeeded in many developmental projects, but also faces a lot of challenges, which is why they are requesting for a loan for UGX 4,800,000 to help them increase the working capital they have to use for different agricultural projects. Rovina will use her portion of this loan to buy coffee husks that she will use as mulch on her banana plantation.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
