Sushama is a 44-year-old woman married to a worker of Samantarpur village in Odisha, India. The couple has three children. Sushama lives with her children, husband and her in-laws. She takes care of all the household expenses. In order to help with the family expenses, she has been involved in doing paddy cultivation and selling it to distributors for the past four years. She supplies her paddy and rice to the rice dealers in the nearby market.

In order to strengthen the business and respond to client demand, Sushama, along with seven other women from her village, formed a group that is Maa Mangla SHG and Sushama was elected president of this group. The lady sitting on the left-hand side in the photo is Sushama. Sushama, along with her group, has requested a loan amount of 160,000 INR to purchase fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds, and to cover operational costs. Sushama and her group believe it would be very helpful to cultivate more paddy so that they can earn more. She wants to give a better standard of living to her family.
