A loan of $400 helped to pay for purchasing new sewing machines and fabrics.

Nalini's story

Nalini is 42 years old, a divorced woman living with her parents and a son who is doing schooling. After her divorce with her husband she came back to her paternal house and started living with her parents, but she felt like a burden on her parents as her father already had the responsibility of her mother, so she planned to help her father financially and started a small tailoring shop with her one sewing machine, nineteen years ago. She took orders from her customers for stitching their dresses. She earns 3000 INR per month from this activity which is not sufficient for her family.

Nalini has a plan to purchase two new sewing machines and fabrics for her shop so that she can take more orders from her existing customers, increase her customer base; and earn more. She says, “I can earn up to 8,000 INR per month after adding new machines to my shop.” She has requested a loan amount of 25,000 INR for purchasing new sewing machines, fabrics and appoint work force to help her. She wants to help her father and save some money for her son's education.
