For four years, Albelardo has operated El Brother Tire Shop selling new and used tires in his tire repair shop. As the only employee of the shop, Albelardo normally finances his business from his savings.
Recently, he needed funds to pay for the construction of a carport and for inventory. After a friend informed Albelardo about nonprofit microlender Accion Texas Inc., Albelardo applied and was approved for a loan.
Originally from Guatemala, Coban, Mexico, Albelardo says the loan will help his shop compete with the competition by making him look more professional. He says his future goal is to create jobs.
