Jose, 78, has only a 6th grade education because of the difficult economic times of his youth. He is married and has 2 children who are both now independent. His wife is a homemaker, and she is the only one who now lives with him.
Ever since he was very young, Jose has liked farming. He used to go with his father where he had a plot where he cultivated corn, and this is where he learned how to farm. Today, he is a farmer and cattle trader. He buys and sells, never overlooking an opportunity to earn a few cents more. He gets up every day at 3:30am to feed his cows and go to work; he returns at about 2pm.
Jose will use this loan to buy a pair of oxen to fatten and use to transport his harvest from the mountain to the place where he stores it. In the future, he will continue to work with livestock, because this generates more income than his farming activities.
