Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $4,650 helped a member to buy toys for resale.

Azucenas Group's story

The AZUCENAS communal bank is in its seventh Cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Adela center. It's made up of twelve members and directed by a board where Celia serves as the treasurer. The members have various businesses such as food sales, sweater knitting, food sales, minibus helper, mechanic, and toy sales.

This loan will help small businesswomen like Celia, who joined Pro Mujer on the invitation of a friend who was also a member. She sells toys and is developing this business. She used to sell fruit.

She is asking for this loan to buy toys from at the fairs in El Alto, and then resell them to fill her customers' needs. This type of work will allow her to generate income to support her household. She is married and has four children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the meetings with her fellow members.
