Nuray
Two years ago, Nuray opened an office after finishing her education in reflexology. When she first started. almost no customers came. Living in a small city, Nuray had to spend a very long time introducing herself and the work she did to the locals, but she didn't give up.

After she separated from her husband, Nuray worked to establish a life for herself. She has an adult son who is studying at university. She says she will use the loan to buy pharmaceutical products to make massage oils. Nuray has another dream for the future: opening her own home-cooking restaurant where she will work in the kitchen. Nuray says that she has struggled her whole life and after her son finishes university, she wants to live for herself, strong and determined.

Maya works to extend access to finance in Turkey, a country which, as a whole, has very limited microfinance services. By supporting this loan, you are helping Maya continue their work and specifically reach female borrowers in Turkey, many of whom come from rural parts of the country.

About Maya

Although Turkey is one of the largest economies in the region, it has not reached its potential for microfinance investment. Deficient legal structures for microfinance credit initiatives and lack of quality information about microfinance demand and structure in Turkey are the largest obstacles to improvements in the field. Under these challenging conditions, Maya provides group and individual loans to low-income women who lack access to the financial services they need in order to start or improve their own small-scale businesses. Maya, established in 2002, was Turkey’s first microcredit program. Maya is Kiva’s first Field Partner in Turkey and posted its first loans in August 2011. Headquartered in Istanbul, Maya has four branch offices. For more information, visit Maya’s partner page.
