Candelaria is 53 years of age and a resident of Balamban, Mahayag Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. She is married with four kids. They have farming business from which to earn a living. With their business they meet many challenges, but they realized that it is good to face the challenges rather than get discouraged.
Candelaria and her husband work hard in selling their harvest to the market. Sometimes there are wholesale buyers from other towns and cities who come to buy their harvest. With their savings, they welcome the idea of expanding their business. They have requested from Paglaum MPC a PHP 15,000 loan. They feel assured of Paglaum MPC’s help, should there be a need for working capital in the future.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
