Alba is widowed and has two children. She is 49 years old and lives in Sinuza, Tudela, in the Philippines.
Alba sells a variety of products to earn a living and has had her business for 20 years. Each month, she earns 1,600 PHP doing this type of work. She has requested a loan of 14,000 PHP to purchase additional products such as breads, biscuits, chocolates, candies, canned goods, noodles, junk foods, beverages, detergents, soaps, and other products.
Alba has been a member of PMPC for 5 years. In the future, Alba hopes to save for future emergencies and support her relatives financially.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
