Amilcar Mardoqueo
Amilcar is 52 years old. He was only able to study until the end of 1st grade because he had to work to help his family. He is married and has 7 children. Four of them are young and in school while the others work with Amilcar in farming. His wife, in addition to running the house, sells pupusas every day. He has been a farmer since he was young and learned from his father. Currently, he has 14,000 square meters of corn planted. He wakes up every day at 5:00 am to milk the cows, get the milk ready to sell, and go work on his crops that are located one kilometer from where he lives. At the end of the day, he helps his wife sell pupusas.

Amilcar needs to buy fertilizer for his corn crop. In addition, he needs to prepare 7,000 square meters for the planting of another crop. Amilcar's goal is to restore his cattle herd and support his children through college.

Amilcar de 52 años de edad, solo pudo estudiar hasta primer grado, porque tuvo que trabajar para ayudar a su familia,es casado, tiene 7 hijos, 4 de ellos menores de edad y estudian, los demás trabajan con Amilcar en actividades agrícolas. Su esposa ademas de ocuparse de la casa, todos los días por la tarde vende pupusas.

Desde pequeño es agricultor, aprendió todo de su padre, en estos momentos tiene sembrado 14,000 metros cuadrados de maíz. Diariamente se levanta a las 5 de la mañana para ordeñar el ganado, prepara la leche para vender y luego se va a trabajar al cultivo que esta a un kilómetro de donde vive. Al finalizar su día de trabajo ayuda a su esposa con la venta de pupusas.

Amilcar necesita comprar fertilizantes para el cultivo de maíz y también necesita preparar 7,000 metros cuadrados para siembra de otra parcela.

El objetivo personal de Amilcar es renovar su lote de ganado, y sacar a sus hijo con un titulo universitario.

This loan is part of a CrediCampo project to help rural farmers living in extreme poverty plant basic grains to feed their families. Excess product is sold on the local market. These loans are smaller than the typical loans offered by this field partner, and guarantee requirements are also reduced. Individuals who receive this type of loan also get access to technical assistance, information on good environmental practices and increased access to farm inputs like fertilizer. This is considered a high risk loan due to the population and loan purpose, and CrediCampo is one of the very few institutions in El Salvador willing to working with these farmers.
