Bassima is a 42-year-old, married Lebanese woman. She lives with her husband and six children. She owns a bakery where she produces pastries and bread, which she bakes during the early morning, and sells out steaming hot to commuters, students, and workers.
She has occupied this business since 2007. Today, she wants to borrow a loan from Kiva's partner, Vitas s.a.l, to purchase new baking supplies and raw materials.
Bassima’s only aim is to increase her productivity, and hence her income to well support the whole family.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
