Acela is married with seven children; she resides in Cabgan, Tambulig in Zamboanga del Sur, along with her family. Her husband is a fisherman, and she helps him manage their own fishpond to make a living.
In 2008, she joined GDMPC and recently, she borrowed 20,000 PHP to purchase feed and fingerlings (small fish). She always finds a way to augment their living.
In the future, she want to own a fishing boat to use for the business and able to improve the general living situation of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
