Martha lives in Chontales Department located two hours from the capital. She’s a humble person and mother of a minor son attending primary school. Martha works as a teacher and her greatest wish is to gradually improve the conditions at home.

She’s asking for this loan to buy building supplies like paving stones, iron rods, sand, concrete blocks and cement and with a second loan start building a room and an annex. Only this way will she be able to carry out this project that’s so important to her and to her little one since Martha’s income is too low.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
