Before he owned CJ’s Grocery, Pedro was a regular employee. But when the opportunity to purchase the business arose, this native of Mexico reached into his savings to purchase and enhance the convenience store.

Five years have passed since Pedro purchased the shop and began supplying his neighborhood with groceries, and to keep up with the demand and expansion of his business, Pedro ventured to his bank, which turned him to Accion Texas Inc. for a loan.

Once approved, Pedro, the store’s only employee, used his Accion loan to purchase inventory and make minor repairs. Now, the 54-year-old father of six says his next goal is to create a job in the community.
