Román has been a farmer since he was fifteen. He started out working with oxen, carts, and plows. So far he farms 3.5 acres of corn, and dedicates a lot of his time to the land. He travels two kilometers by bicycle every day to get to the place where he farms. He works from 6:30 am to 12:30 pm. And when his children aren't in school they help him at work.
Román has planted 2.6 acres of corn and will use the loan to buy fertilizer and pesticides in order to obtain the best possible harvest.
Román's dream is for his children to finish school, to repair the house where they live, which suffred damages in the 2001 earthquake, and also to purchase a pair of oxen to work the land.
Román es agricultor desde los 15 años, comenzó trabajando con bueyes, carretas y arados, hasta la fecha cultiva 14,000 metros cuadrados de maíz, a las que le dedica gran parte de su tiempo, viaja dos kilómetros en bicicleta todos los días para llegar al lugar donde esta sembrando, trabaja de 6:30 am a 12:30 pm. Y cuando sus hijos no asisten a la escuela le apoyan en el trabajo.
Román tiene sembrada 10,500 metrod cuadrados de maíz y con el préstamo comprara fertilizante y pesticidas para obtener la mejor cosecha posible.
El sueño de Román es que sus hijos terminen sus estudios, reparar la casa donde viven que se daño desde el terremoto de 2001 y también quiere comprar un par de bueyes para trabajar la tierra.
