An is 50 years old and is a single mother of three children. She is a hardworking and responsible woman who is dedicated to her rice farming business in Kampong Thom province. Having been in this business for years, she aims to expand her rice plantation and increase her yields in each harvest by purchasing an extra piece of land for farming.
Due to a lack of funds, she has applied for a loan in the amount of KHR 2,000,000 to add to her existing savings of KHR 1,000,000 to buy a plot of land that is 60A in size. Thought this expansion as a result of the loan, she hopes to have abundant harvest and generate a higher income to fulfill her basic living needs.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
