Khom is 61 years old and a married mother of seven children. To cover the daily cost of living, she does rice farming on one hectare and weaves silk on one loom. It is the business that she has had for 10 years.

Khom has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for ages, over seven cycles, and she has fully repaid back her loans with success. The past loans have enabled her to improve her living so it is better than before. Moreover, she managed to set aside some money to buy a decent motorbike for her family.

Now, she is seeking for an education loan in order to pay tuition fees and purchase school materials for her son who wants to pursue a bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking. She hopes this support will enable her to be less worried about the financial burdens which she used to have and will allow her son to obtain a good study record and get a good job after graduation.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
