Ek K., age 54, is a widow and originally from Prey Veng, but has a business selling vegetables in the market at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She makes $5 in profits a day. She told a loan officer that when she first started selling various kinds of vegetables her business was not going well, and since she was a new seller, she only had a few customers who supported her. But her business has improved since she has diversified her products, and now she has many customers. She lives with her three children who work as a translator and garment factory workers.
Mrs. Ek has requested a loan from Kiva via Credit to purchase a motorbike and a trailer to transport her products from her home to the market, which will reduce the cost she spends everyday on a motor-taxi.
