Rogers is a 38-year-old married man with four children. He has a small retail shop that he started in a rural trading center. But because he has limited capital, he has only a handful of items in the shop. So, he supplements this work by selling a local brew, which he also makes himself from his own banana plantation. Rogers has about 3.5 acres of land for his banana plantation. He has been doing this work since 2008. Making local brew has helped him acquire other pieces of land and he has now planted coffee as another source of income.

Rogers would like a loan of UGX 1,000,000 to help him buy a piece of land to plant more bananas for his local brew. He is challenged by weather and some competition in his area of operation. Rogers's dream is to see himself construct a recognizable home.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
