Sokheang is 25 years old and married with one daughter. She is a villager from a rural area located in Battambang province’s Thmor Koul district. She and her husband earn a living by farming rice and raising pigs.
This is Sokheang's third loan with VisionFund, and she successfully repaid her previous loans. The loans from VisionFund have helped her to better support her family. She is now asking for a loan of 2,500,000 KHR to buy feeds to nourish her pigs. She will also use a portion of the loan to buy fertilizer for her paddy rice. She hopes to raise her pigs to be fat and healthy so she can sell them for a good price and to grow her rice in a timely fashion in order to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
