Nhoeurm is a local citizen residing in Battambang province’s Moung Russey district. She has four children, and currently, only one kid is still in school. For the sake of her family, she and her husband do rice farming as their main income source; it is the business that she has had for 20 years.

Nhoeurm is a second-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Her past loan enabled her to support her child to finish secondary school and move on to pursue a university degree. However, the tuition fee is quite a burden for her family. To tackle this issue, she applied for an education loan to pay the tuition fee of her son, who is studying at a local school specializing in Finance and Banking. Moreover, with a small portion of her loan, she will buy school materials for her son.

She hopes this loan will support her son’s education costs on time so that her child can pay more attention to his studies.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
