Faaoo is 37 years old and married with 2 children. She has a small business making and selling pork cakes in her community. To do this, she needs a loan to buy flour, boxes of chicken, cooking oil, onions, soy sauce and black pepper seasoning. In the future Faaoo hopes to earn more from her business to help her family and her kids' educations. She joined SPBD in 2011 to gain access to financial services.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
