A resident from Battambang province’s Ek Phnom district, Yoeurt is 44 years old and a married mother of four children. Currently, she needs to take care of only three children, as they are in school. To cover the daily cost of living, she does paddy rice farming on a two-hectare area and also sells grocery items for supplementary income. She has been with this business since she was 29 years old.
She is a first-cycle client with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The requested amount of this loan is 4,000,000 KHR. Yoeurt will spend this loan to buy more grocery items for resale. She hopes to replenish this business on time so that she can continue to earn a good profit for her family, which has enabled her to keep her kids in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
