Fifonsi I Group

The Fifonsi I group is made up of eight people who live in the same village. This is the third time that the group has requested financing from ALIDé in order to raise the level of their business.

The representative of the group, named Elise, has her hand raised in the photo. Elise received very little schooling.She is 43 years old and married to a receptionist named Cyriaque. The couple has four children, all of whom attend school and are in their care. Elise lives with her children. The various needs of the household are taken care of by the couple.

In order to provide for their needs, Elise has been selling wheat pastries and dry goods in her region for the last fifteen years. In order to bolster her business and with the goal of meeting the needs of her growing customer base, Elise is requesting a third loan from ALIDé together with the members of Fifonsi I. This credit will allow them to raise the level of their businesses and to make more profit. Their first two loans were fully repaid.

Le groupement FIFONSI I est composé de huit personnes qui habitent dans le même village. C'est la troisième fois que ce groupe sollicite l'aide financier de ALIDé, afin d'élever le niveau de leur activité. La représentante du groupe, du nom de Elise est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Elise a très peu fréquenté l’école. Elise est âgée de 43 ans et est mariée à un réceptionniste du nom de cyriaque. Le couple a quatre enfants tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Elise vit ensemble avec ses enfants. Les diverses charges de la maison sont assurées par le couple. Pour y parvenir, Elise vend depuis une quinzaine d'année, des beignets de blé et des articles de mercerie dans sa région. Afin de renforcer son activité et dans le but de faire face à sa clientèle de plus en plus grandissante, Elise sollicite un troisième crédit auprès de ALIDé ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe FIFONSI I. Ce crédit leur permettra surement de rehausser le niveau de leur activité et de se faire plus de profits. Les deux premiers crédits reçus ont été bien remboursés.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
