In order to provide for her children, she sells fried yams and bean pastries from her home. She stocks up in Benin. In order to grow her business and to better respond to the demands of her customers, Antoinette Pélagie hopes to obtain this fifth financing, together with the other members of the Sena 1 group. Their previous loans have all been fully repaid.

Le groupe SENA 1 est formé de trois personnes qui habitent dans le même quartier. La représentante de ce groupe, nommée Antoinette Pélagie, est celle dont la main est levée sur la photo. C’est la cinquième fois que ce groupe sollicite l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue d’élever le niveau de leur activité. Antoinette Pélagie est âgée de 35 ans et est une veuve. Antoinette Pélagie est mère de quatre enfants, tous scolarisés et à sa charge. Afin de contribuer aux charges des enfants, Antoinette Pélagie vend de l'igname frit et des beignets de haricot à son domicile. Antoinette Pélagie s’approvisionne au Bénin. Dans le but de renforcer son activité et de mieux répondre à la demande de sa clientèle, Antoinette Pélagie désire obtenir un cinquième financement, ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe SENA 1. Les crédits précédents ont été bien remboursés.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
