Yoert, 31, is married and resides in a rural village located in the Battambang province’s Bovel district, Cambodia. For the last nine years, she has been farming rice on three hectares of farmland. Yoert is able to earn about 46,000 KHR (Cambodia Riel) per day from her current business.
Yoert is just with VisionFund this cycle. Now she is applying for a loan of 1,400,000 KHR to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her farmland, and will use a portion of it to spend on land plowing.
With this loan, she hopes to increase her rice paddy so as to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
