Josefina is a widow with two children who manages her own flower garden to make a living. For more than 10 years, she has been selling flowers in town. She joined GDMPC and borrowed a loan of 6,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) to buy additional variety of flowers and purchase fertilizer such as manure. She wants to improve her farm in order to cater more customers to gain more profit for the needs of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
