Djiguisseme Group

The Djiguisseme group is made exclusively of married women, who, on average, are 46 years old and have five children. All live in traditional extended families in the Badialan neighborhood in the town of Fana, Koulikoro region (in the second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members know each other through family, neighborhood, and friendship ties.

The group members sell condiments, charcoal, cereals, and other diverse goods like pottery. The women of the Djiguisseme group are on their sixth group loan, and will use it to buy the various merchandise described above.

Chata, the person seated on the right, plans to buy 50 canaris [a type of pottery container] and 10 jars in Fana. She hopes to earn an average monthly income of 25,000 francs CFA, which she will reuse in her business.

Le groupe Djiguisseme, composé exclusivement de femmes mariées, ont en moyenne 46 ans, 5 enfants et vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le quartier de Badialan dans la ville de Fana, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce de condiment de charbon, de céréales et d’articles divers tels les articles de poteries.
Les femmes du groupe Djiguisseme sont à leur sixième prêt solidaire qui sera utilisé pour acheter les différentes marchandises citées ci-dessus.
La cliente Chata, la personne assise à partir de la droite dans le rang des assises, compte acheter 50 canaris, 10 jarres à Fana. Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 25000 FCFA qui sera réutilisé dans l’activité

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
