Diego Armando
Diego is a 28-year-old man and the father of a six-year-old daughter (who appears in the photo). He and his partner are in a common-law relationship. He started out working as a truck driver, but some time ago he began transporting people with a minibus that he acquired. Most of his trips are to the towns in the western part of the Department of Antioquia.

Diego is active, hardworking, and dedicated to his job and his family, who serves as his primary motivation in life. For this reason, he looks for new ways to get ahead and overcome the obstacles that directly affect his work, such as the high price of fuel and spare parts for maintaining his vehicle. For this reason, he is requesting a loan so that he can invest in the purchase of a set of tires for his minibus and mandatory vehicle insurance. This will enable him to provide better service and offer better safety when transporting passengers. As a result, Diego will be able to strengthen his business and generate more income to sustain his household and provide for the well-being of his young daughter.

In the midterm, Diego dreams of acquiring an upgraded model of minibus that is comfortable and spacious so that his passengers will prefer his service. This will lead to a better financial situation for his family so that he can provide his daughter with an excellent education that will help forge a prosperous and successful future for when she grows up.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
