Klang Soeu, 62, is a widow who sells a traditional Khmer noodle soup dish out of her home food stand in Siem Reap. She lives with her one child who is a construction worker, and she has been serving soup to her community making US$5 per day. She has seen the demand for her dish grow and has asked for a loan of US$500 to expand and improve her business. She needs more eating utensils to satisfy all of her customers and would also like to expand her stand. There is room for her to add more seating and she feels that the customer demand is high enough to increase her income and account for this investment.

Loan Update

Entrepreneur: Klang Soeu
Location: Siem Reap Province, Cambodia

Klang Soeu, 62, is a widow who sells a traditional Khmer noodle soup dish out of her home food stand with a typical income of US$5 per day in Siem Reap, Cambodia. She lives with her one child who is a construction work and requested a loan so that she could improve her business.

A CREDIT MFI loan officer recently visited Soeu to check on her progress. After receiving her loan, Soeu spent her loan on purchasing wood to repair her house. She said that her daily income slightly decreased because of the current situation of economic crisis by about 10%. Although the situation does not allow her to satisfy her current business, she is able to live in house with a good condition with the loan.

Soeu said that she still needs more capital to invest in business, so she plans to take out another loan in the future. And she actually hopes that her business will allow her to have a better standard of living.

When asked, Seou said she was thankful to CREDIT for its good service, and to Kiva lenders for supporting her loan.
