Vanny is 27 and married with a daughter who is too young for school. She lives with her family in a village of the Moung Russey district of Battambang province. Vanny and her husband are rice farmers and they supplement their income through planting pineapple. She has been in this business for several years and she earns about 34,000 KHR per day. Vanny has been with VisionFund for three cycles and has successfully repaid her previous loans that have helped her family relieve their financial burden and improve their livelihood.
Vanny is requesting a 2,500,000 KHR loan through VisionFund to buy fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes her loan will increase her crop yields and her income to improve her family’s living conditions.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
