A loan of $1,125 helped to buy clothing, curtains, bedspreads, etc.

Yessica Elizabeth's story

The communal bank Chimborazo meets every fifteen days in the Picoaza parish in the city of Portoviejo. This place is known for being a very commercial zone, for its San Pedro and San Pablo traditional festivals, and for the happiness of its people.

Here lives Yessica. She is 30 years old and married. From this relationship she has three children who are 15, 10, and 2 years old. The oldest study in school. Her husband is an informal businessman.

Yessica is a great wife who is requesting this loan for herself and her husband. She and her husband work in the sale of clothing, bed sheets, mattress linings, curtains, and various other things. While she sells throughout the area, her husband goes to other cities to offer their products. They work every day, he all day and she only in the mornings. She takes advantage of her children being in school since in the afternoons she has to help them with their school work. She has been working in this activity for five years while her husband has been doing so for much more. This is the way in which they always struggle to help their children succeed.

They are going to apply this loan to the purchase of clothing, curtains, bedspreads, and everything they sell. She is a founding member of the communal bank and she likes it because of the ease to obtain loans.

Her dream is that her children study and that they be decent people.
