Sobeima Inés
Sobeima is 47 years old and is the mother of two children. 22 years ago, with the purpose of generating income to meet the needs of her family, she began preparing and selling refreshments, taking advantage of the knowledge she had acquired in a variety of courses she completed at the Sena.

In this way, Sobeima has generated enough resources to get her children ahead and to give them their daily meals. Currently she offers breakfasts, lunches, dinners, ice cream and snacks, little by little growing her portfolio.

Sobeima works alone, from 7:00am to 4:00pm, and her main advantage is the location where there are large numbers of people. She is a fighter, strong, active and creative, and she is seeking the support of a loan to invest in the purchase of a cooler, a machine for making whipped cream, crystal stemware, and wholesale supplies (ice cream, sweet sauces, vegetables, meats), and to advertise.

In this manner, she'll be able to give continuity to her business and attract more customers, which will allow her to increase her income, so that she will be able to advance toward accomplishing her main goal which is to acquire her own store in which she can continue her work and to make her establishment a good source of income.

Sobeima hopes the store is profitable and that it will ensure economic stability, in order to offer her children a better education and well being, as well as improving the quality of life for the whole family.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
