They all have different businesses such as selling restaurant condiments and restoration activities. Kadiatou is the person seated at right. They live in large traditional families in Tiele, which is in the Kati prefecture (Koulikoro Region, Republic of Mali).
They have all had small businesses for a number of years and are well sought after in their businesses. In order to satisfy the growing needs of their customers, the group members decided to work with Soro Yiriwaso's loan program two years ago. This is their third group loan.
Kadiatou is the group president, is very well-known in Tiele, and excels in the preparation and sale of food dishes.
She would like to use her loan to buy cooking ingredients (onions, cabbages), meat, and grains. She buys her supplies in Bamako and with local wholesalers. She sells her food items in Tiele at retail, for cash and credit, and to both men and women.
She would like to earn a monthly profit of 25,000 FCFA, which will allow her to repay the loan and reinvest in her business.

KADIATOU, qui est la présidente du groupe et très connue à TIELE, excelle dans la préparation et vente des plats alimentaire. Elle compte utiliser son prêt pour acheter de condiments alimentaires (oignon, choux,) de la viande et des céréales. Elle s’approvisionne à Bamako et sur place auprès des grossistes et vend ses aliments à TIELE, en détail, au comptant et à crédit, à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle espère sur un bénéfice mensuel de 25.000FCFA somme qui lui permettra de rembourser le prêt et de réinvestir dans son activité.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
