Mona is a 51-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and six children. Her husband is the main income source of the family. For the past 20 years, Mona has worked as a farmer to increase her family’s revenue. She specializes in cultivating vegetables on her own land.
Mona is requesting a loan from the Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to purchase fertilizer, seeds and plants, and to till her land to prepare it for a good and easy cultivation. She states that her loan will certainly help to increase her business productivity by a large percentage which will return to her as higher profits. In the future, Mona plans to open a vegetable shop and start selling her own harvested goods.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
