Rubina's Group
In this Group: Rubina, Naghma, Saima, Shamim
Rubina aged 42, is represented here as the leader of her group of 4 members. Each member of this group has taken loans according to their needs. The featured borrower Rubina took a loan for her husband's business. Her husband supplies plastic raw material to manufacturers in different firms. In fact he buys used plastic bottles and accessories from scrap dealers. After washing and crushing them into small pieces, he sells it to the manufacturers for reshaping. The manufacturers give it different shapes through compression molding machines.
One day while crushing a hard plastic bottle the crushing blade inside the machine became stuck. Its blade was horribly damaged and needs replacement but he does not have enough money to buy a new crushing blade. Therefore, Rubina requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan. Through the loan amount her husband will be able to buy a new crushing blade easily.
Rubina says thanks to Kiva because her husband does not have another source of income.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
