Dila wants to buy a cow and sell the milk and baby calves to the locals. She has never requested any loans until recently when she was contacted by the field staff who work out of her area about the eligibility of a startup loan. She was really thrilled and, immediately with staff’s help, she put the application forward to Kiva.
Dila is 54 and has three children who are still attending school. Rural northern Albania is the part of the country where they reside. “I pray that lenders will help me financially. I want to save for my kids’ education, as they want to earn higher education. So I see this opportunity as an activity to thrive in the livestock and why not? Others in our region, have already.” She ended her conversation smiling all the time.

About VisionFund Albania

Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
