To establish stocks of 'pagnes' (the colorful cloth of western Africa) and to ensure family needs are met, Akoélé is taking out an initial loan to achieve her goals. She started her 'pagne' cloth business in her home in 2008. She gets her supplies from the Grand Marché in Lomé. She is married to a retailer and is a mom of a 2-year-old child.
