A loan of $3,550 helped a member to buy organic fertilizer for growing corn.

Pahaj Central Group's story

Domingo is the representative of the Grupo Pahaj Central (seen on the right wearing a maroon polo shirt). He is 54, married, and lives with his son in the village of Pahaj, Santa Lucia Utatlán, Solola.

He is a hard worker who has been growing corn for 30 years. He has chosen this activity because it can feed his family for a year and he can sell the crop in the local community market.

He says that his parents taught him this work as a child, and through it, he has earned a passable income which helps cover household expenses.

Domingo's dream is to expand his crop to earn more income and thus provide a better quality of life for his family.

The other members of the group will use the rest of the loan to buy organic fertilize for growing corn, in order to increase profits and provide a better quality of life for their families.
