Dembagnouman Group

The Dembagnouman group is made up exclusively of married women with an average age of 27 years and 3 children each. They all live in traditional extended families in the village of Warassala, town of Guégneka, prefecture of Dioîla, region of Koulikoro (second administrative region of the republic of Mali.)

The women came to know each other as relatives, neighbors and friends. They are in the business of perfume, charcoal, spices, grains, and cow's milk. The women of the group are on their third group loan.

Fanta, the second person from the left in the row of seated women in the photo, plans to purchase 10kg of "gueni", 2kg of "magnon kisseni" (a plant), and 5 bottles of perfume, most often from the sellers in Bamako and Fana, in order to resell them to customers of the village and surrounding area. She hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 25,000 francs CFA which she will use for her family's needs and to reinvest in her business.

Le groupe Dembagnouman, composé exclusivement de femmes mariées, ont en moyenne 27 ans, 3 enfants et vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le village de Warassala, commune de Guégneka, préfecture de Dioîla, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la république du Mali).Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce des parfums, du charbon de bois, des condiments, des céréales et du lait de vache.
Les femmes du groupe Dembagnouman sont à leur troisième prêt solidaire.
La cliente FANTA, deuxième première personne à partir de la gauche dans le rang des assises, compte acheter 10Kg de Gueni, 2Kg de Magnon kisseni et 5 Bidons d’eau de Cologne le plus souvent avec les fournisseurs de Bamako et de Fana, pour ensuite revendre aux clients du village et environnants.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 25 000FCFA qui sera utilisé pour ses besoins de la famille et une partie est réinvestie de ses activités.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
