Mariyam is a 42-year-old married woman who has been running a business selling milk with her husband for a period of about 15 years. She has two cows and three calves. She sells milk to many of her neighbors, along with butter and cheese that they make from the milk. She also works in animals sales on a seasonal basis to generate extra profits. She is a mother of four children and needs to earn much more to meet their everyday expenditures including food, clothing and education. In order to make huge profits, she requested a loan of Rs 20,000/- to buy one more cow to increase her sales of milk. She hopes to get an increase in the production capacity of milk, which ultimately helps in generating more cash.
