Fialelei is a 51-year-old single woman with no children. She makes and sells barbeque in her community to earn a living. She has five years of experience with this business. Fialelei needs a loan to buy box of chicken and mutton flaps, sausages, soy sauce, foam plates, onions, tomato sauce and barbeque sauce. She plans to use her profits to buy a new barbeque oven. Fialelei became a member of SPBD in 2013.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
