Originally from a rural village in the Sampov Meas district of Pursat province, Vouch is a 30-year-old married man. Rice farming has been the main source of his family’s income for two years. To better support the family and help to earn more income, his wife works as a paid worker. Together, they can earn about 19,000 KHR per day to meet family’s needs, and they manage to save about 13,000 KHR each day for their future needs. This is Vouch’s first microloan from VisionFund. He is applying for a loan of 1,200,000 KHR to buy pesticides and fertilizer for his farmland. With this loan, he hopes to grow his rice more fruitfully and healthily, and thus to make more income to improve his standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
