Cycle 1 of the group Intan II is over, and the members want to continue for the next cycle. There was no change in group membership in Intan II. They were very helpful to all by the presence of Kiva's loan program, especially because the economy of each member of the family is increasing.

The Intan group II members still have diverse businesses, such as selling bedspreads, wallets and handbags on credit; selling snacks; selling fried dann and soy milk; starting eateries; selling phone pulses, LP gas, pastries, and vegetables. The planned loan is for the second cycle; they will use it to purchase the means of production and increase the types of businesses. All members of the Intan II group thank you for the loan which was given in cycle 1.

Intan II group is led by a woman named Turyati, who is a single parent of two children. She has one son who is still in school. Turyati has a business selling sheets on credit. With this loan, Turyati plans to add other types of businesses, such as selling clothes and bags on credit, because now there is a lot of competition in the selling of sheets.

She's is hoping that in the next five years, she can have her own stall. These loans are also expected to increase the business and the income of each member of the group, Intan II.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
