Vergencita is married with an only child, and lives in Maloro, Tangub City. Her husband is operating their own “van” transportation and rental business while she sells beauty products in their community to make a living.
For many years, the family is earning not less than 10,000 PHP a month from this business.
In 2011, she joined Gata Daku MPC and successfully paid her previous loans that contributed much to the running of their business. She has taken a new loan of 15,000 to purchase canned and bottled goods, noodles, and assorted foodstuffs to sell in her sari-sari store.
She wants to see her child become successful, so without a doubt, she saves a portion from her generated revenue for her child’s education.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
