Luzminda is a married mother of five children who lives in Baybay Sta. Cruz, Ozamiz City, with her family. Luzminda and her husband have been working together to operate their own general store and make a living. She has been doing this for more than 15 years, earning 20,000 PHP monthly. She successfully repaid her previous loan from Gata Daku MPC, and it helped them to improve their living situation. She took out a new loan in order to buy additional products, such as dried fish and bagoong (salted fish) to sell. She hopes that this will help to pay for her children’s education and for a better life in the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
