Sebastian is a 45 years old Tanzanian Businessman. He owns and strongly promotes renewable energy business. Standing with him in front of his office is the TAHUDE Foundation Director (in blue suit). Sebastian, in partnership with TAHUDE Foundation, has decided to install ten biodigesters in his local community/village back home. The customers are available and TAHUDE will pay Sebastian commission rate of 10% for each biodegester that he installs. A loan of USD 6,250 will enable Sebastian to implement this initiative. This will increase his social status in the community, promote his renewable energy business in rural community, and generate income through the 10% commission from TAHUDE Foundation. Sebastians’ initiative will reduce the community’s dependence on depleting firewood/trees and consequently halt deforestation. Also each biodigester installed will cut-down expenditures/expenses of the families which took the wise decision of such investment.
About Tanzania Human Development Foundation
Tanzania Human Development Foundation (TAHUDE) is a non-profit organization that aims to tap into the different talents of men and women in Tanzania to effect positive changes in the lives of other people. Its current activities are aimed to promote renewable energy distribution such as solar power and biogas, community development, women empowerment, microfinance, children education, environmental conservation and more. Kiva loans will be used to help borrowers bring clean energy to their communities through biogas loans.
TAHUDE joined Kiva through our Experimental Partnership Program, and has therefore received a lighter level of due diligence. Accordingly, loans associated with this partner carry a higher level of risk than typical Kiva loans.
