Furaha is a 26 years old young Tanzanian Entrepreneur. He is not yet married until, he says, “his life goals are fulfilled”. Furaha operates various businesses within his community and is highly supporting TAHUDE Foundation for implementation of renewable energy. Furaha is determined to install five biodigesters within his community. He is doing this for three reasons (i) he wants to be a role model in his community, (ii) part of his overall business advertisement, and (iii) for the sake of commission rate of 10% that TAHUDE gives him for each biodigester he installs. TAHUDE Foundation is convinced that Furaha can handle this project with a minimum supervision. Thus he has applied for a loan of USD 3,125. We hope the success of Furaha’s initiative will reduce the community’s dependence on depleting firewood/trees and consequently halt deforestation. Also each biodigester installed will cut-down expenditures/expenses of the families which took the wise decision of such investment.
About Tanzania Human Development Foundation
Tanzania Human Development Foundation (TAHUDE) is a non-profit organization that aims to tap into the different talents of men and women in Tanzania to effect positive changes in the lives of other people. Its current activities are aimed to promote renewable energy distribution such as solar power and biogas, community development, women empowerment, microfinance, children education, environmental conservation and more. Kiva loans will be used to help borrowers bring clean energy to their communities through biogas loans.
TAHUDE joined Kiva through our Experimental Partnership Program, and has therefore received a lighter level of due diligence. Accordingly, loans associated with this partner carry a higher level of risk than typical Kiva loans.
