Hussein is a 42-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and three children, attending school. He is the main income source of the family. He has owned a café since 2011. He provides his customers with delicious coffee and other hot drinks, fruits and “Narguileh”, a traditional Lebanese waterpipe or hookah.
With his loan requested from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l, he will increase his shop’s inventory of coffee, tea, milk and tobacco so that he can serve more customers and therefore earn higher income. This is his first Kiva loan, and Hussein is very excited to receive it as he is sure that it will impact positively on his business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
