Benkadi Group
In this Group: Magnine , Djelika Madou , Rokia , Mamou , Maramou Seydou
The Benkadi group is made up of married women who are, on average, 42 years old and who also have an average of four children each. They all live in extended traditional families in the village of Fala Sidibela, in the commune of Massigui, Cercle of Dioîla, in the Koulikoro region (second administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

They know one another through kinship, neighborhood and friendship ties. They grow grains and condiments. The women who compose the Benkadi group are on their sixth solidarity loan and will use this new loan to buy grains and condiments.

The woman standing in the middle of the group is named Maramou Seydou. She is planning to use her loan to buy five bags of unhulled rice, each bag weighing 45 kg. This rice will be hulled and then sold at the Massigui market.

Maramou Seydou is expecting to make an average monthly profit of 36,000 CFA francs, which will be used to increase her activity.

Le groupe Benkadi composé de femmes mariées, ont en moyenne 42 ans, 4 enfants et vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le village de Fala Sidibela, commune de Massigui, préfecture de Dioîla, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce de céréale, et de condiments. Les femmes du groupe Benkadi sont à leur sixième prêt solidaire qui sera utilisé pour acheter des céréales et des condiments.
La personne au milieu s’appelle Maramou Seydou, elle compte acheter avec son prêt 5 sacs de riz non décortiqué. Il faut noter que ces sacs pèses chacun 45kg. Ces sacs de riz seront décortiqués et mis au marché à Massigui.
Elle envisage réaliser mensuellement un bénéfice moyen de 36 000FCFA. Ce bénéfice sera utilisé pour agrandir son activité.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
